software tinkerer and aspiring rationalist. transhumanist and alterhuman

I have strong opinions about #Lisp but love S-expressions. I also have strong opinions about video games, TTRPGs, software, and programming in general and I post about them a lot

I like to use curly braces to {group words together} to make my sentences easier to parse. for example, try reading the garden path sentence "the complex houses married and single soldiers and their families", and now try reading it with curly braces: "{the complex} houses {married and single soldiers and their families}"

I try to thoroughly CW anything that I post or boost which might be triggering, or just cause strong emotions like outrage or fear. sometimes I make mistakes but I want to make my posts as safe to read as possible. I even CW when I'm {complaining about} or {making fun of} something in case you don't want to hear a stranger criticize something you love

replying to messages is very energy-intensive for me, so I may not reply to certain messages at all, or it may take me a long time. DMs are especially hard

@tempest aw thank you! I might need that tbh - I feel like C++ especially is going to be very very unintuitive for me, so I could probably use the help

unfortunately this means that I have to learn Java and C++ - two languages that I want absolutely nothing to do with

I’ve decided that I’m getting an associate’s degree in programming, because maybe in 2 years there will be tech jobs again and maybe the corpos will fucking take me seriously for once if I have a degree

@fxchip to be honest I didn’t even know that isogender was a thing! I just guessed that there must be some third category that I’m not thinking of, so I added it as an afterthought - but I’m really glad that I did because a lot of people feel seen and included who otherwise wouldn’t

@pharmafemboy hehehehe! it’s because I think they’re so interesting, of course! no other reason at all

@shijikori that is terrible omg. this is definitely what I suspected in terms of employment, but it didn’t occur to me that housing discrimination was a problem as well. I absolutely hate that

writers have the power to inspire the weak and downtrodden, to change people’s perspectives, to help the traumatized process and heal from their trauma, to create hope and show a way forward. but instead they repeatedly choose to add more pain, hopelessness, and suffering to this world - and people love it. it’s all they want. anything else is treated as wrong somehow. it’s called “bad writing” or “childish” or “boring”. life is pain, and why should art be any different? why should our only escape from the horrors of daily life be anything other than more of exactly the same horrors?

story-driven games are just a manipulation tactic to make you feel personally involved in what happens in a story so the writer can use that to hurt you more deeply

(I don’t actually mean this I’m just bitter)

@Steve to be honest there’s already a massive sampling bias since I’m asking on such a niche online platform - so I’m not going to take these results too seriously anyway hehe. also it felt weird and invasive to ask trans people if they were out or not, I guess - but maybe that’s me being overly cautious

40k as a setting actually has a lot of cool shit in it, but 40k media almost invariably fixates on the least interesting and most generic parts (space marines, orcs, tyranids)

but like 40k has:

  • cenobite demons of hedonism and temptation that can break your mind with unimaginable pleasure of any variety you can imagine
  • shapeshifting assassins in sexy skintight suits who have psychic cannons that can fry your brain through any amount of armor
  • the Adeptus Mechanicus (thankfully they get a little screen-time sometimes and they even got their own game once)
  • also I don’t know what the Tau’s deal is but they seem interesting I want to see them in something

also I mentioned orcs as generic above but that’s not actually true? the orcs in 40k are actually a fungus that reproduces asexually and they’re so psychically powerful that their technology only works because they believe it does. but in 40k media they’re presented as generic for some reason lol idk

okay I’m morbidly curious about the correlation between transness and unemployment. are you…

35% cis and employed
9% cis and unemployed
21% trans and employed
22% trans and unemployed
6% neither cis nor trans, and employed
3% neither cis nor trans, and unemployed

humans are so cute when they’re tensing and squirming under the gentlest touch of my fingers. their sleeping bodies get so worked up once I start flooding their minds with breathless fantasies of submission

they usually wake up covered in sweat and their own fluids, achingly needy, and completely unable to find relief unless they indulge whatever new fetish I’ve given them. they had better hope it’s nothing too embarrassing~
