@ami_angelwings a few things come to mind
tokyo xtreme racer - probably the best and most interesting way to build a street racing game, what with the health bars instead of times or lap counters, unfortunately left by the wayside because up until last year, all the games kinda sucked to play and none of them sold well at all
ace combat - considering how monumentally popular the latest game became compared to everything before it, this might seem odd to say, but the fact of the matter is there is not a single other story-focused arcade flight combat game out there that even comes close, and I think that’s tragic, because it’s such a fun type of game that’s way more accessible than most people think, because they look at it and think “flight simulator” and instantly dismiss the entire concept
crimson skies - the peak of dieselpunk if you ask me, and practically nobody has even heard of it
teppu - I liked it a lot and I wish there was more like it, and I’ll never not be mad that it got the axe
yokohama kaidashi kikou - the concept of iyashikei is absolutely not in short supply, but I do believe that the type which evokes feelings like this does is in extremely short supply. too much iyashikei feels more like empty fluff than anything else, just pure escapism with little to no substance, but this one has a lot more going on and actually makes a lasting impact that sticks in your mind. I want more of that
every short story that offers a full and complete experience that doesn’t need to be dragged on forever

was always curious on using real life backgrounds for stuff. here’s my go at it. picture from a friend’s vacation photo. also been using this as a banner for a while now

Types of horror:
Supernatural horror: evil magic is preventing the women from kissing
Eldritch horror: the eldritch entity is too incomprehensible for the other lesbian(s) to kiss
Body horror: gender dysphoria stops lesbians from kissing
Psychological horror: due to personal issues, the women don’t kiss
Slasher: a woman is killed before the other woman can kiss her

@kasdeya I'm pretty sure if I asked for some help with my OS and got told something like this I would cry. I switched to a Linux distro just because I wanted to get away from microslop as an artist I don't actually know all that much about computers
@kasdeya This is exactly how it's like every time I have an issue with Linux. And I'm a professional computer toucher. If I can't figure this shit out, the average user is completely screwed.
someone needs to sit Steam users down and let them know that a Horror game that involves Survival is not necessarily a Survival Horror
and a Sim game that is Immersive is probably not an Immersive Sim
like no FNAF does not belong in the same genre as Resident Evil. and Farming Simulator does not belong in the same genre as Deus Ex. makes it kinda hard to search for games I’ll like
All soon-to-be abandonware should be open-sourced, I cannot overemphasize this. If you aren't using or selling your software anymore, just publish the source to GitHub or something. This is important for old videogames to be recoverable, extended beyond their lifespan, and archived.
WoW quests be like:
I’m hungry. bring me 12 boar asses so I can eat them
FFXIV quests be like:
‘Aye ‘tis with me brother we came ‘ixt these lands ‘fore any’a th’ wandren’s’a late! We’d prowled ‘n’ pick’d th’fields a-twary a-twee! An afore long we’d picked an’ a-plucked all’a’tha’ fields a-clean a-tha crop if’n ya’ catch m’ meanins.
[6 dialog boxes later]
An’ if’n’ ‘afore long we’d been realizin’ we’d be a-need’n’ 3 a’tha’ boar arses intatha westwardly ‘ills! Bet ‘afore ye be a-goin’ off’n a-killen’ fer me, ye’d best be talkin’ t’the locals ‘bout them there boars! An’ then ye’d bes’ be talken’ te yer friends ‘bout them boars! [3 dialog boxes later]

Because I'm feeling super hot tonight and can't help myself, here's more. Enjoy, thoroughly. That's a demand 😉💦
reddit Linux users, I am begging you to realize that most people’s lives do not revolve entirely around tinkering with their computers
gotta love the Linux threads on reddit that are like
“hey so I updated my system and now my entire desktop UI looks different. how do I fix this?”
and the comments are all like “this is your fault for not manually reading every single line of apt output every time you update anything. if you were paying attention you would have clearly seen that it was going to install Gnome 3.5.12 which automatically takes control of your entire computer, so this is expected behavior. anyway the fix is to just DRMB the procsys using stdtempfs and if you can’t figure out how to do that you don’t deserve software freedom”
I love how someone brought their plushie of Artemis the cat from Sailor Moon into mission control during the Artemis II mission.
due to popular demand... Star Wars: Lynne & Roxie Edition in all its glory! i don't really know what i'm doing with torrents, so hopefully this works 🤞

this is my favourite joke by far. i'm not even going to describe what it is here, i want you to experience even a fraction of the surprise that the people i showed this to in person had when watching it for the first time
i've been keeping this a secret for half a year, but i can finally come clean now.
i spent months editing the entire star wars movie. at first i made subtle changes (colour correction, fake shot/reverse shot scenes, etc.), but as the movie went on, my edits got more and more absurd (extra powerpoint transition wipes, doom door open/close sound effects, etc.).
i can't upload the full thing for obvious reasons, but here's one of my favourite parts: the death star scene. spoilers for a movie that came out nearly four decades ago
it hates organizing things when there isn't like, an obvious logical order
Good goddamn I love space.
Taken by the Artemis II crew.
@HauntedOwlbear oh yeah i have a meme for this
