- Putting a CW or TW in a post but *not using* the inbuilt Content Warning system of fedi is, functionally, useless and completely misses the point
- Censoring words like Rape, Assault, etc, with an asterisk or a different word or even an emoji is also, functionally, completely useless
Stop doing these things.
The point of CWs is to prepare people for the subject matter, and give them the choice of whether or not to engage with it.
If the content isnt actually hidden behind the inbuilt CW feature, then I have no choice in whether to engage with it or not.
If the content isnt properly tagged with the correct and accurate words, then I have no way of filtering it out properly.
Google somehow turned Linux enabled, 3d accelerated pocket computers into a bad thing, and I will never forgive them for that

parents: *looks over shoulder* hey whatcha working on?

I want a PvP shooter equivalent of Mario Kart Balloon Battle tbh. like you run around a colorful arena and collect RNG powerups and it’s all very lighthearted and it’s not designed to be balanced or fair whatsoever. in fact the better you’re doing, the worse powerups you get. some of the powerups are brokenly strong and some of them require extreme amounts of skill to be viable at all. that sounds perfect
Counter Strike’s Gun Game is kinda like this, come to think of it. I’d love a whole game that’s full of little minigames like Gun Game. like the Mario Party of the FPS world
I am so sick of games with stories that play with my emotions for no reason. especially when the game didn’t need a story in the first place
I was caught off-guard again today with a game that seemed completely innocent, except for a small number of dialog boxes telling a pretty cutesy story. and then it got darker, and darker, and the ending didn’t resolve anything. so now I’m hurt and bitter and sad because of some stupid game that I should never have trusted in the first place
at this point I’m thinking of just avoiding any game if it prominently has dialog boxes or cutscenes. sick of this shit
I should really stop caring about what randos on the internet have to nitpick about my bloody passion project
"This mod sucks, it's nowhere near as good as Reelism or Russian Overkill"
Guess what, matey face, my DOOM modding experience is the very definition of "learning as I go" and I am legitimately just one person having fun with an idea I had that somehow blew up into this massive thing

“vote with your wallet!”
my bank account currently has $71.16 in it, so I have 71.16 votes. how many votes do you think a billionaire has? could it possibly be billions?
oh and how do I use my wallet to vote against something? if I pay for something, I’m voting for that thing, right? but the alternative is not paying for it. in which case I’m not voting “no” - I’m abstaining from voting. so my only choices are “yes” or “abstain”
if you try to “vote with your wallet”, all you’re doing is playing the capitalist’s game on their terms. of course you’re not going to accomplish anything that way. they designed the system to leave you helpless and desperate if you try to play by their rules. the real winning move is to organize and collectively work to subvert the game itself
remember when Bethesda was ridiculed for selling $2.50 horse armor? I’m so glad that AAA companies learned their lesson and no longer charge such high prices for pointless cosmetics in pay-to-play games
somehow i still keep learning new stuff about css
today i discovered that `font-family: monospace;` causes the text to become smaller!
you can get around this by doing `font-family: monospace, monospace;`
how have we gotten to the point where 200+ MB of RAM usage on a browser tab is normal? like how do you even fill up that much RAM with a simple webpage? on a good day Firefox “only” uses 3GB of RAM on my system :/
these aren’t pages full of flashy videos and images either. they’re for doing basic things like checking my email, so where is that 200 MB coming from?
edging an api endpoint by sending HTTP OPTIONS over and over again and never making the request
just watched @1 talk about building one’s own visits and just, wow!!!
it’s so cool to see other entities takes on the whole person hood thing and the amount of time and dedication that goes into making a visor but also how much it pays off in terms of freedom of expression!! this one is feeling very inspired to make one for itself and has a bunch of fun ideas for customization and such!!
highly recommend checking it out!!!

extremely related: Why It’s Rude to Suck at Warcraft
I highly recommend giving this a watch. it’s a fascinating breakdown of where our current toxic gaming culture comes from, and exactly what’s wrong with it (it goes a lot deeper than “getting angry about losing then blaming your team”)
