683I try to be very careful about CWing things. sometimes I make mistakes but I want to make my posts as safe to read as possible
I sometimes post NSFW/kinky/lewd things behind CWs. this should go without saying but if you're a minor please do not interact with anything lewd/NSFW that I post
I have very limited energy and am very shy so it might take me a long time to reply to messages sometimes, or I might not be able to reply at all. this is kind of an "output only" account for the most part, but I'm hopeful that I can change that over time
I sometimes use curly braces to {clearly show where a grammatical phrase begins and ends}, like that. you can think of them like parenthesis in code or math, except they operate on grammar instead

I’m definitely going to need to install something that’ll give me the Windows 10 start menu in Windows 11, too, because I don’t think I could live without that start menu at this point
can’t wait for all the workflow-breaking UI changes that are Different Just Because™ /s

kasdeyaI can tell that I don’t know much about fantasy because anytime someone mentions a fantasy trope that’s “really overdone” it’s one that I’ve literally never heard of before. like:
humans are the only race that can’t do magic but they’re also the only race that has technology
angels are evil and demons are good (my paracosm is this but I’ve never seen it anywhere else)
dwarves really like holding grudges
in all three cases these were thrown out as obvious examples of overdone tropes, as if everyone is already aware of them and also tired of them. which i find pretty surreal because like, I’ve played Skyrim, Runescape, World of Warcraft and lots of other fantasy games but I’ve never encountered them before at all

@esheep ohh, interesting. that does seem like something that YouTube would do. I’m actually not sure if my ISP changes my IP over time, but if they do I bet it’s like every 2 months or longer

I’m currently working on a project that I’m calling GAGS - Gone wild audio Advanced Gender Search. (I might come up with a better name eventually 😅) it’s a search tool for finding lewd audios on reddit, similar to GWASI. but GAGS’s emphasis is on giving you a lot of control over which genders you want to filter out (both listener and speaker genders) so that you hopefully only get content that’s tailored for you
my prototype already does this really well, but it’s extremely not ready to be used on the open web yet. in fact I’m still deciding whether I feel safe hosting my code on a VPS or even sharing my code with y’all at all. with the risk being that someone could hack it and cause Problems™ or just that people won’t like it and say mean things

@fzer0 I’ve actually had this experience in the past too - where they’ll try to pester me or block me for like 1-2 weeks and then give up(?). but this time it’s been going on for over a month so I wonder if they’re doing an A/B test of if they can wear people like me out
it’s good to hear the experiences of someone else who’s dealt with this

kasdeyahmm okay I’ve decided that in order to eliminate as many factors as possible on why #YouTube has decided to block me from watching videos “for using an #adblocker”* I’m going to use YouTube with a version of LibreWolf that only has uBlock Origin installed. literally no other plugins whatsoever. also the settings are all default and I haven’t synced anything to this browser
* despite the fact that I can literally turn it off for days at a time and they still won’t unblock me. I can even report an issue (which I’ve done multiple times) and they just ignore me
it seems like they individually block my YouTube sessions. once a session is blocked it will never be unblocked, but if I clear cookies and log in again on Firefox I can get a day or two of YouTube before being re-blocked. so my LibreWolf session isn’t blocked yet, but the real test will be if it’s still not blocked 3 days from now
I’m trying to figure out why I, in particular, get blocked from watching YouTube and others don’t (even though tons of people are using adblockers on YouTube just fine). my theories are:
- it’s because I have some extension or Firefox setting that’s causing a false positive
- it’s because they’re A/B testing an extremely heavy-handed blocking system on me in particular, and not on most users

@OctaviaConAmore ooh having it as a feed is a cool idea! maybe it could even generate an RSS feed that people could subscribe to, or send them emails when new audios/scripts matching certain criteria are posted
I definitely want to have it distinguish between audios and scripts at some point, too - so that you can choose which you want to see with each search

I’m finally done (I hope?) with the parser! I ran into a lot of surprise roadblocks (which usually happens when you try to use a computer to parse stuff that humans wrote by hand) but I eventually decided to take a more strict approach to parsing [F4F] style tags. specifically my parser ignores any tag with a 4 in it unless it’s entirely composed of known gender abbreviations
I really wanted to be able to handle any arbitrary gender abbreviations, even if they’re ones that I don’t know about, but there were just too many false positives that ended up throwing off the rest of the gender-detection parser
I definitely have all of the most common genders in my code though, as well as a few more obscure ones like S for sissy and GQ for genderqueer. and hopefully if I eventually host this webapp somewhere, y’all can tell me if I’m missing any and I can add them
but anyway! now that the parsing work is done I can go back to working on the UI, and I’ve already added two small features: extra links in the navigation bar, and a section that shows the “fours” (what gender(s) the audio is by and for)

There's literally TONS of dedicated payment processors that handle NSFW/adult/etc content. Problem is we need more info on which ones allow what, and how much they cost, because this tends to not be on their sites.

We're collecting (public! free!) information on all of these processors, what their negotiable ranges are, any "hidden" costs, etc, as part of our work on Conjured Ink, but this is literally the kind of thing that could help e.g. Itch itself and others.

Talking to all of these places is a lot of legwork, so having more folks doing this—especially folks who might be creatives themselves who would be interested in using these services and who know how to talk to sales reps—will help us get this huge task done in a short amount of time.
Also, we're gonna have a landing page and FAQ coming soon, but we're doing all this research so we can build a new space where creatives can host and sell THEIR OWN stuff without being beholden to the whims of sweeping platform-level policies (or paying platform fees a cut, even)
