ughh okay I’m biting the bullet today and installing Windows 11. I really really hope nothing breaks
I’m definitely going to need to install something that’ll give me the Windows 10 start menu in Windows 11, too, because I don’t think I could live without that start menu at this point
can’t wait for all the workflow-breaking UI changes that are Different Just Because™ /s
@kasdeya I've been getting ready as well for the upgrade
I'm just waiting for 25H2 to make the jump
nooo omgg it looks like I might have to do another complete reinstall to Windows 11 because I’m using Windows 10 LTSC instead of regular Windows 10. I just got done doing that with Windows 10 T_T
I was really really hoping that I’d just be able to keep all of my files and do the upgrade in-place
okay I might be able to upgrade like this:
Windows 10 LTSC -> Windows 10 GAC
Windows 10 GAC -> Windows 11 GAC
but I feel like there are even more things that could go wrong if I try to go this route
@kasdeya The things I'm most excited about in 25H2 is the native 1Password passkey integration, and other fixes and minor cosmetic improvements, so it's more polished.
As for the emoji menu, they released an out of band update just to address that in Windows 10. I faced the same problem

@kasdeya
yeah I think that's probably why you may not see it. Good luck ☺️
@kasdeya yeah we definitely would recommend taking a backup of your user directory before trying either of these
(says the enby currently in the middle of cloning our not-backed-up-at-all windows install to a bigger drive — don't do what we're doing, this is actually kind of reckless :p )
@tempest hehehe omg - sounds like very good advice. thankfully I take daily backups of my user dir and I’m making one right now. unfortunately it’s looking like I might just have to install Windows 11 from scratch, which is probably going to take me several hours to get everything set up again :/ but we’ll see what happens
