I really do like YAML, but would be nice if it could just have ${variable.references}

Y'know?

Interesting to nobody: I have rev-engineered the batch-send process of the Texscan MSI CompuVID Spectragen 4B titler/chargen system and have a Python script that successfully completes a full serial communications cycle.

Why is this important?

Here's another way I boot FreeDOS on Linux with QEMU:

https://allthingsopen.org/articles/how-to-run-virtual-machines-qemu

If you want to try FreeDOS, running in a virtual machine is a great way to go! Most of the defaults in QEMU are great for DOS! ๐Ÿ‘ (Actually, QEMU is way faster than classic hardware anyway.)

@Okesska it's hard to beat Disney's Fast Pass Documentary. Then again, I do like long videos and not having to worry about changing the video for a while.

Sounds to me like the good ol nature vs nurture argument.

I'm inclined to say nature. Because maybe that's just how some people are wired sometimes. I'm open to changing my mind about BPD though.

@salad_bar_breath

"Then if that's true, does anyone have BPD really?"

I'd still be inclined to say yes, but that's because I'm no expert on mental health and it may hinge on those expert scientists on mental health.

I would agree with you though that all individuals should have access to healthcare, and that includes access to care for one's mental health.

I'd also advocate for a world that isn't so damned ablist and maybe we shouldn't be so centered around turning every individual into a neurotypical to just survive in here

I -would not- recommend Control Systems Engineer. Despite how unlikely it is to be taken over with AI and the low training curve to shift from general computer sciences to this, you deal more with other people than the machines that run the place. Racing against time to resolve a failure in the system is not fun.

so uhโ€ฆ the entire American tech industry has shit itself and there are no longer any tech jobs at all, whatsoever. could anyone recommend a new career path for me? I am:

  • very technically minded
  • very fast at learning things on my own - especially if I can tinker/experiment with them (or a simulation of them) to gain an intuition
  • extremely good with computers, programming, etc.
  • cripplingly socially anxious, so ideally it should involve as little interaction with people as possible
  • very anxious in general so it shouldnโ€™t be a stressful job, ideally
  • on a truly disgusting sleep schedule. Iโ€™d love if I could do shift work instead of having to wake up at 8am
  • looking for a job that has a lot of demand for workers, so itโ€™s easy to get hired. Iโ€™ve been trying to get a tech job for years but nobody likes me
  • okay with going through a training program for up to a year, but no longer than a year

Iโ€™d really love to hear about any options that yโ€™all know about

Civility in service to a status quo is just an extension of power trying to silence marginalized voices. Specially those jumping for joy at the wonderful news that the asshole who wants them actively disappeared from the public - [ lost a debate with a high velocity piece of metal ]. Maybe we should listen to those voices and not the folks whom are complaining that the public is reacting too uncivilly to current events.
