Civility in service to a status quo is just an extension of power trying to silence marginalized voices. Specially those jumping for joy at the wonderful news that the asshole who wants them actively disappeared from the public - [ lost a debate with a high velocity piece of metal ]. Maybe we should listen to those voices and not the folks whom are complaining that the public is reacting too uncivilly to current events.

@ilobmirt tone policing minorities for not reacting “respectfully” to him losing a gun debate is, as always, just another way of trying to silence those voices. when confronted with the feeling of “wow – how could someone celebrate another’s death?”, it is important to ask yourself if it’s really that terrible to celebrate, or if maybe the person who died was such a vile excuse that it would inspire joy in those they hurt? as an analog, it is a fairly common and nonpartisan take to believe that pedophiles should be killed (see: conservatives and the epstein case).
