don’t forget, they have needs! if during the walk they seem to be breathing heavily, especially after your reminder, you may need to help them cool off. give them a gentle, but firm command to stay and then strip. remind them that they’re doing such a good job when they obey.
if they still seem to be panting and flushed, you may need to help them in other ways. make sure they know to stay still for you by giving the command again, then proceed to feel any parts of their body that draw your attention. be thorough and give them lots of praise for letting you do this; they’re doing so well for you, even with so many people around

when taking your pet out for a walk, remember that they may have a short attention span! sometimes, as you’re both affectionately strolling together hand-in-paw, you’ll have to remind them if they behave, you won’t have to publicly tug on the leash that’s covertly fed through the sleeve of the hoodie they’re wearing. in fact, you may even praise them in front of everyone!
