There's a certain genre of techno music I basically think of as contraption music. It might technically qualify as club music, but if we're perfectly honest the real appeal is spinning up this musical contraption that's essentially the sonic equivalent of a rube Goldberg device.
Autechre is the classic example of this genre in action, but my favorite example is Graham Dunning since his approach of sequencing his music mechanically, using layers of prepared vinyls and 3d-printed surfaces on a spinning turntable and relying on physical or light-based triggers means that his music is about as literally a Contraption as you can possibly get without going full Wintergatan.
Dear Fedi friends,
Next week I have the honor of doing a presentation advocating for the Fediverse in a really prestigious venue (I can't share more now, but I will after it takes place).
I'm currently working on slides and I would love to hear testimonies from YOU. Why the Fediverse is so special to you in contrast to Big Tech platforms (bonus points if you speak French & can reply en français).
I'll share a selection of your testimonies in my slideshow presentation.
Merci beaucoup ❤️
Action + RPG is such a cursed genre combo because it takes

I wonder what it is about bass as an instrument that attracts nerds in particular. I think it might actually be because it has a reputation of being the background instrument no one really cares about (as my guitarist friend is fond of pointing out, no one learns the bass to try and get laid) and being in the band but not really in a role people are likely to bother sounds like the perfect arrangement to a lot of people.
I guess drums fulfill a similar sort of function, I guess it depends on whether you narrowly missed out on an autism diagnosis or narrowly missed out on an ADHD diagnosis.
I just love this flashlight...

If you don’t know what that is, then just simply scroll down on this page to begin. But it is possibly one of the best mixed-media fiction ever created, and one of the best stories of post-humanism
This is your reminder that disk rot is real and will come for your CDs.
I've just ripped some '00s disks and these already have spots on them.
When did the theory of education and learning styles turn from "You should, if capable, provide multiple form factors of information so people can choose the one they are most capable of absorbing"...
...into "You should blast your captive audience with a fire hose of shit in multiple formats that give a sub-set of the information then blame them when they consistently do not retain the info presented in one"?
