I think I just hate every compiled language tbh. they’re all so strict about everything and so extremely limited in what you’re allowed to do. you have to bend over backwards to satisfy the compiler instead of just writing your code in the best way possible
like yes your code runs faster and maybe being low-level is useful for some other reason too, but the cost is that it sucks to make anything and you end up with really hideous code that’s trying to work around a bunch of weird limitations, and often the compiler will just refuse to work until you completely refactor your code to satisfy it
just sent a letter to my state representative basically saying “hey, [extremely transphobic red state] is really fucked up for trans people like me. do you care? are you going to do anything about it?”
can’t wait to get the inevitable political nothing-speak back

after long covid made it so I had to give up the violin, it took half a year to get to the point where I could get any joy out of other people playing game soundtracks
now, with long covid making even once-a-week streams a lofty goal most weeks, seeing my friends stream is starting to be tinged with the reminder that I'm just not allowed to... I want to enjoy my friends wonderful streams, but... yeah...
3 years ago, I could stand and play the violin for 6+ hours a day... now, I need my medications for a trip to the restroom not to require planning and careful energy management...
something something wear a fucking mask lest you condemn more people to follow in my footsteps, I don't know... maybe you're ok with harming people so a mask isn't needed
for me, harming other people, especially in a life-altering way, has been one of my greatest fears since I was old enough to realise what a single human was capable of...
the right words can scar a person for life... the right application of force in the right place could entirely upend a person's entire future... even if it was unintentional
gah, I wish I had the energy to properly write the "caring for other people, especially ones you don't know who will never be able to directly benefit you, is actionable antifascism" post
everything about Trump demonstrates how fundamentally broken the US government really is. there is no check or balance that can stop him. he’s a convicted rapist and has faced no consequences, and that’s just for starters. he is simply above the law; he can do literally anything he wants and there is no system within the government that can touch him
I think it’s always been the case that the rich and powerful in this country are unaffected by the law, but Trump really shows how far that principle can go. laws and checks and balances were never there for people like Trump - they were either to make us average citizens feel like those in power would be held accountable for their actions, or they were created to control us while feeding us the illusion that they affected all citizens equally
I was thinking about making one of those anonymous “ask me anything” accounts but like, I can’t even reply to DMs as it is lol. I wish though - it’s a fun idea
they should invent a type of society that satisfies my basic survival needs
the world collectively forgot how to make fun multiplayer games in 2010 when esports exploded. now there is only SBMM slop for tryhards to grit their teeth through for 10 hours a day. all potentially fun mechanics have been removed 12 balance patches ago and replaced with $15 weapon skins
those of you with sensory issues that work with your hands, how do you manage the overstimulation of having stuff on you (grease, metal shavings, dirt, dust, etc.)? or is it just kind of a sensory nightmare?
I’m thinking about working in some kind of trade, but I’m worried about:
it’s so hard to tell which trades are “in high demand” because the capitalists haven’t accepted that the workers need a fair wage, vs. which trades are “in high demand” because there are actually not enough workers
like apparently CNC operators are “in high demand” but I’m not sure which it is. tbh though the starting pay for a CNC operator is definitely not a liveable wage (but what is these days?)
starting to think that the reason why OOP’s solution to everything is “create a horrifying incestuous turducken of classes” is because OOP languages are missing any other piece of functionality that one might conceivably solve the problem with
when an SCP-6783-2-α instance encounters SCP-75412-4-μ, it will release SCP-6783-3-υ and SCP-6738-3-κ which will encase the resulting SCP-6783-2-β in a SCP-8342-Θ::/apple/37 that triggers SCP-5245-6-24-λ-McDonalds-η which creates SCP-5357-4-7 resulting in a class-7 Theaetetus event (designated SCP-69-420)
