701I try to be very careful about CWing things. sometimes I make mistakes but I want to make my posts as safe to read as possible
I sometimes post NSFW/kinky/lewd things behind CWs. this should go without saying but if you're a minor please do not interact with anything lewd/NSFW that I post
I have very limited energy and am very shy so it might take me a long time to reply to messages sometimes, or I might not be able to reply at all. this is kind of an "output only" account for the most part, but I'm hopeful that I can change that over time
I sometimes use curly braces to {clearly show where a grammatical phrase begins and ends}, like that. you can think of them like parenthesis in code or math, except they operate on grammar instead

my favorite example of this is the Bethesda-era Fallout games where your skill at using a gun determines how much damage a 9mm hollow point will deal when striking someone in the face. not your chance of hitting them in the face, but the amount of damage that a gunshot wound to the face will cause
which is probably not a lot btw, but it’s hard to say for sure because - again - health and damage values are essentially randomized, so no matter what happens it probably won’t be satisfying
(I have installed So Many Mods over the years trying to fix this lol. unfortunately the problem is baked so deeply into the game’s design that it’s hard to completely fix)

Action + RPG is such a cursed genre combo because it takes
- Action, which is a genre that is very reliant on carefully-tuned health and damage values in order to feel satisfying and fair
- RPG, which is a genre that might as well completely randomize health and damage values
and sloppily mooshes them together for some reason

My two video game mantras:
1. "You're not doing a challenge run" (use the tools you got to make the game easier)
2. "HP is a resource" (the only hit point you really can't lose is your last, before that it really doesn't matter if you get hit or not as long as you gain health faster than you lose it. Unless you're doing a challenge run, but see point 1.)

Owlor@meow.socialI wonder what it is about bass as an instrument that attracts nerds in particular. I think it might actually be because it has a reputation of being the background instrument no one really cares about (as my guitarist friend is fond of pointing out, no one learns the bass to try and get laid) and being in the band but not really in a role people are likely to bother sounds like the perfect arrangement to a lot of people.
I guess drums fulfill a similar sort of function, I guess it depends on whether you narrowly missed out on an autism diagnosis or narrowly missed out on an ADHD diagnosis.
