one type of autism assessment question that keep tripping up the demographic it's intended to diagnose is any variation of "do you have a problem with..." some ways it might fail to yield accurate results:
* "No I don't have a problem with [thing], I just avoid it"
* "No, I don't have a problem with [thing], I have a system for dealing with it"
* "No, I don't have a problem with [thing], it just doesn't come up often enough to be a problem."
* "No, I don't have a problem with [thing], actually I seek it out cus it helps drown out some other sensation I do have a problem with".
@lightbites @zekjur unfortunately I think that git use is so widespread at this point that any project like Jujutsu is forced to abstract the filesystem-level details of how the repository is stored - since any new VCS would otherwise be incompatible with the overwhelming majority of software projects that one might want to work on
I definitely agree that simplicity is better, but I’m not sure if there’s a good alternative here unfortunately - except maybe to have a second tool whose purpose is to translate between one VCS and another? but even then that would still be introducing the same amount of complexity - it would just be offloading the complexity to a second tool
the fediverse is just a bunch of neurodivergents building their own internet so they don't have to talk to the other internet
@kasdeya does "drone" mean anthromorphic male bee, or anthromorphic quadcopter?
@lightbites @zekjur jujutsu seems nice! hopefully it hasn’t inherited the same footgun from git
@luana she probably will! she’s not used to wandering and serving such a diverse group of folks - she’s from a small commune with fairly simple taste in transformations. so she’s still getting a feel for which potions are wanted
now that she knows that mermaids are something that folks want, she’ll definitely find a way to make them. and if she doesn’t have them by the time she gets back she might just stay a while until she’s able to find the perfect recipe. maybe you could help her figure out exactly how the mermaid transformations should look, and test her potions as she refines them
@fargate hmm you might have drink just one for now and wait until she comes back. at the moment she’s wandering through nearby cities and giving away potions to anyone who wants them, and she’s sure to end up back here again at some point
also, slime angel sounds like a very interesting combination. I do love slimes, at least, and I can be okay with angels too 💙
@DjBRINE1 I love how many are taking that choice ^_^
as you drink the potion you can feel your ears wanting to lengthen in one of a few different pointed configurations. at the same time, your skin wants to become impossibly soft and free of imperfections, your senses want to become dramatically sharper, and your body shape wants to become thin, athletic, and graceful
it seems like you drank a wood elf potion!
you can resist any of these changes, or choose to only allow them to happen partway - or you can deliberately encourage them, to make them even more prominent
@fargate hmm what a chaotic thing to consider!
the witch says that drinking multiple potions at once can make the transformation much more difficult to control. it’s not dangerous, but it can lead to strange body configurations. like becoming a taur, having multiple pairs of arms, having mismatched body parts (like one human and one bestial arm), etc. and that kind of transformation might require a specialist to undo
if one wants to blend their body between species, one generally drinks a single potion, waits about a month for the transformation magics to settle, and then drinks another
@little_foxtoy either, or anywhere in between! you can be a regular four-legged fox, a kemonomimi fox girl, or an anthro fox for example
the potion basically lets you mix human characteristics with that animal however you want - so there’s a pretty wide spectrum of appearances that you can have
@kasdeya @OctaviaConAmore I saw a poll with cat as an option, picked it, THEN read question. :3
@luana they’re separate potions and essentially you get to choose where you want to end up somewhere on the spectrum between your current species and the species you chose
like for example if you currently have a human body and you drink a cat TF potion, you can be an anime catgirl (just ears and a tail), or you can be a furry anthro (with full-body fur, claws, digitigrate legs, etc.), or you can just be a regular housecat, or anywhere in between
so you can mix-and-match any traits/appearances that humans can have, with any traits/appearances that cats can have
I hope that makes sense!
@gardengeek don’t worry - I didn’t think you were being sarcastic. and I was so glad to see that you enjoyed it so much! that really makes me happy to hear 💙
I’ve been thinking about doing more little wish fulfillment polls like this, since this one had such a good response. hopefully I can think of some other good ideas too!
come to think of it, maybe I could do cyberpunk? cyberpunk is less homogenous than fantasy, but much more homogenous than scifi, so it should still be pretty easy to quickly explain and evoke a certain vibe/genre at the same time
I strongly prefer scifi to fantasy but I’ve got to admit, it’s really easy to quickly explain a fantasy concept to someone
like my “a witch hands you a TF potion” poll. the scifi equivalent would take a lot of explaining because every scifi universe is different, but everybody knows what a witch is and can imagine what a transformation potion is, so I can explain everything you need to know in literally just seven words
maybe this is part of why D&D got so popular: it’s just really easy to quickly get someone up to speed, like: “you’re adventurers and you’re going into a cave full of goblins”
anyway I’ve been thinking about making more cute little choose-your-own-adventure style polls and I guess if I do I’ll probably stick with fantasy instead of scifi. as much as I wish I could do scifi it would just take way too much explaining lol
