i completed a major transition goal ive had since 2003
i was 12. and i played a lot of Ragnarok Online back then, and my character's hair gave me such gender envy
i fucking did it yall
The power of the tech industry to pull the ladder up behind us and leave behind a whole generation of people who should be able to own their stuff but can't because we made everything far too complicated is not something you should underestimate.
Early NES emulators allowed for easy sprite editing. 'Sonic Bros.' was one of the earliest to become popular on the internet. In it you collect Emeralds, not Mushrooms, to become big Sonic.
Sometimes the job interview just wants to gain code exec on your machine:

Local girl failed the coding interview:
I don't think they've got a job for me anymore now that I got their repos deleted⁉️
Someone should make a cyberpunk slice-of-life game, that combines elements of The Sims and RPGs, with deep character customization like in Cyberpunk 2077.
Someone should take Cyberpunk 2077 and The Sims and force them to do the Fusion Dance.
The thing that I really liked the most about Cyberpunk 2077 was the ability to imagine myself actually living there, with Keanu Reeves as my headmate.
What if V, instead of deciding to rob the biggest corporation of the planet, decided to open up a pub or a burger restaurant?

I use #curl _a lot_ when probing exploitable stuff.
I should donate to curl.

I have now donated to curl.
@amca I saw that language and it seems interesting! I haven’t looked into it much at all because right now I’m interested in learning a Lisp that’s a standalone language, but I’m honestly kinda curious about Hy - the impression I get is that it’s probably going to be like Fennel except for Python instead of Lua, which might be pretty nice
Great blog post by @mahryekuh on the discussion of lightweight websites.
I've been meaning to write about how I think big events like conferences should have a static site version of their website available in addition to any kind of dynamic one.
Internet on expo halls and other large venues is usually pretty bad when there are hundreds or thousands of people and being able to get the important info on a spotty wifi from a static site is quality of life improvement.
Excellent point raised by @hamatti (as usual):
Conference halls, a mass of guests on a single wifi (or 5G, because conference wifi is an attack vector), all loading the event programme in between talks.
Static sites are great for situations like this.
i made an archery game that uses your charging cable as the controller
@amca the one that I’m able to get the most done in is definitely Python, but I think Lua, Janet, and Fennel are all much more beautiful languages - especially Janet. I’m also comfortable using JavaScript or TypeScript though! but I tend to find compiled languages extremely limiting and their limitations feel arbitrary to me. it feels like I have to go out of my way to adapt my code to the language
also, I noticed that you mentioned FORTH in your pinned post and I’ve had a lot of fun playing with FORTH too! I was never able to write code that was especially practical for anything lol but I had a lot of fun doing math expressions of various kinds and playing with DUP, DROP, SWAP, ROT, etc.
they should make a cafe with the atmosphere of a coffee shop except they sell stuff without caffeine and they don’t close at like 3pm when I’ve barely just woken up lol
like maybe I just want to vibe in a place where it feels like someone might make conversation with me (but please don’t actually 😱) but I don’t want to be functional by 3pm
there are boba places too but the ones I’ve been in so far have very different atmospheres - one of them is weirdly sterile (white and mint green, like a dentist’s office) and feels like an American fast food place
anyway I’m probably going to spend more time at the local library instead since I’m allowed to be in there without spending money. I fucking love that there are libraries in this country. one of the only good things we Americans are allowed to have
@Shivaekul aw thank you. yeah it’s pretty disappointing, but they still seem interested in finding some way for me to have a bike so I’m still hopeful
and yeah I think it would be! I could at least get to the nearest cluster of shops outside the huge expanse of suburbia I’m stuck in lol, and it’d be nice to have options of places to go and things to do
