they should make a cafe with the atmosphere of a coffee shop except they sell stuff without caffeine and they don’t close at like 3pm when I’ve barely just woken up lol

like maybe I just want to vibe in a place where it feels like someone might make conversation with me (but please don’t actually 😱) but I don’t want to be functional by 3pm

there are boba places too but the ones I’ve been in so far have very different atmospheres - one of them is weirdly sterile (white and mint green, like a dentist’s office) and feels like an American fast food place

anyway I’m probably going to spend more time at the local library instead since I’m allowed to be in there without spending money. I fucking love that there are libraries in this country. one of the only good things we Americans are allowed to have

@kasdeya interesting... some cafes here in my country also sells herbal tea (some even iced tea) and all sell hot chocolate, but chocolate has caffeine so that is irrelevant

Tangent: coffee in australia
Show content

@kasdeya I was surprised to discover small town australia doesn't have this.

In australian cities and suberbs I used to be able to walk out of work at dusk and could have several options to sit down for a coffee or a little cake. When I did shift work I could get a coffee and a nice place to sit at 11pm. Cafes were still cafeing well into the night in areas with a lot of night foot traffic.

In rural australia it's like you describe above: coffee happens in the morning, cafes close at 3pm. If you're lucky you might get a takeaway coffee after that, but the whole cafe concept has gone to bed.
