@kasdeya i still wish asm.js caught on. it feels like a solution that fits the web much better: there's no need to standardize like 30 different extensions just to do what asm.js could already do. no need to polyfill it. no need to enforce a JS control flow compatible assembly language on everyone else. performance was only like 0.5x compared to native with comparatively not many changes to js engines. i just think it was really neat and WASM is just too big and wide.
I decided to dabble in #PixelArt yesterday and made this. I feel like I could’ve done a better job with shading but I’m a little proud of it - especially since I basically don’t do pixel art at all
(this is traced from an actual picture btw)
it's so funny to me how embarrassingly weak gravity is. i have a fridge magnet stuck to my fridge. it's stronger than the gravitational pull of the ENTIRE EARTH. gravity fuckin blows dude
omg wait I actually found a pretty good one! about Q helping Picard in his own irritating way while he was assimilated by the Borg
I found a TNG story that started off pretty interesting with Geordi La Forge in sickbay recovering from a mysterious illness and everything was leading to an interesting plot twist of some kind but then the plot twist was him and Data kissing
@5225225 @sanity omg interesting. yeah honestly I don’t think it would be that hard to make something like this? and someone could even make a library that handles all of the basic UI stuff and is just like “okay tell me what to ask the user and give me a function to validate the user’s inputs for each option” and that would basically be all you need, I think

JM8 with a fantastic video on video game difficulty
I hate everything to ever come out of the JavaScript ecosystem
except WebAssembly. that actually seems alright. I just want a way to run it that isn’t through JavaScript
JSON is not an acceptable format for user-editable config files. JSON is an extremely bare-bones data serialization format that doesn’t even allow comments
bare minimum, make the config file JSONC instead. even then, the lack of trailing commas is pretty annoying
honestly though, just use TOML. YAML has a pretty maximalist spec that seems a little cursed but even that is better than JSON

I am blown away by the quality of this fan film
I don’t like how they gave Samus a voice but they fucking nailed the atmosphere and visuals
METROID: THE SKY CALLS // a Rainfall Films Intergalactic Odyssey
CWs: scifi violence, horror themes
I don't play OPTIMALLY, I don't CARE FOR THE META, I don't play TO WIN, I PLAY TO HAVE FUN, and if I don't have fun, THEN I STOP PLAYING
what if we... for the climactic soundtrack... put our leitmotifs together
aha ha , just kidding.. unless..?
@yon I totally agree when it comes to the newer games. Mario Galaxy felt so weird and bad to control that I couldn’t get beyond the first real stage
but, Mario 3 is one of the only platformers that I’ve enjoyed playing. I guess the raccoon Mario does feel a bit weird to control - especially the P-speed thing and tapping A to hang in the air. but otherwise I guess it’s become kind of like my baseline for what a platformer is. that and Mario 1
Mario 64 controls like ass though
