700I try to be very careful about CWing things. sometimes I make mistakes but I want to make my posts as safe to read as possible
I sometimes post NSFW/kinky/lewd things behind CWs. this should go without saying but if you're a minor please do not interact with anything lewd/NSFW that I post
I have very limited energy and am very shy so it might take me a long time to reply to messages sometimes, or I might not be able to reply at all. this is kind of an "output only" account for the most part, but I'm hopeful that I can change that over time
I sometimes use curly braces to {clearly show where a grammatical phrase begins and ends}, like that. you can think of them like parenthesis in code or math, except they operate on grammar instead

I just had an evil idea lol. so I live in a white suburban American neighborhood which is full of deeply suspicious Christians. it’s even a “gated community”
so for Halloween this year I’m going to find an ornate glass bowl (I’m sure there’s one somewhere in this hoarder house) and put it on this altar cloth that I just ordered
and then I’m going to decorate the whole thing with (fake, electric) candles, fill the bowl with candy, and put it all outside for trick-or-treaters

I can never tell if it’s supposed to be on or off. like I know it changes color but does the slightly darker teal mean “on” or does the slightly lighter teal mean “on”? does left mean on or does right mean on? and every UI has a different set of colors to mean “on” and “off”. it drives me crazy
please just use checkboxes

kasdeya#electronics beings of Fedi, can you please tell me how to #repair this switch in my electric kettle? it looks like it’s been exposed to a lot of water (hot water leaked into the electronics of the kettle) and it’s rusted. the problem is that it doesn’t complete the circuit when it’s in the “on” position. I want to either disassemble and clean the rust off of it or just buy a replacement switch
but, I can’t even disconnect it from its electrical connectors. they look like you can just pull them off, but I’ve been pulling fairly hard and they won’t budge
so my questions are:
- how do I get the electrical connectors to disconnect?
- is there a way to disassemble this switch?
- should I even be messing with this, or should I just buy a new kettle?

I decided to dabble in #PixelArt yesterday and made this. I feel like I could’ve done a better job with shading but I’m a little proud of it - especially since I basically don’t do pixel art at all

@smolcasm thank you for the help! and yeah I am probably going to do the skin/CSS filtering eventually once I know more about the tags that I want to avoid
but, could you tell me where to find the side search bar? for example when I do this search here’s what it looks like to me
I do see a search bar in the upper-right but that’s all that I can see unfortunately
