Some interesting things in the pipeline. Software Repository will be worked on so that Release Builds can follow a more refined release system.

Interim - 'Live' Monthly releases of a software package.

Candidate - A polished current version of the software package

Release - The most polished version of Software Packages that are considered usable for the official release

Freedos Gitlab will have projects use tags. And then the release build environment can be customized to build FreeDOS media with the desired tags.

This is kinda exciting. Not gonna lie. It seems not only is FreeDOS following a more modern development cycle, but releases can be more customizable to suit your needs either as a user or as a developer.

It also shows that FreeDOS is alive and active as a software project, making it more attractive to develop for and be a part of as a hobbyist developer like myself.

I finally got a separate VM Environment up and configured just for Docker.

And with that dedicated docker environment, I finally check up on @freedosproject โ€˜s Builder RBEv4 neodog_cool

So far, it seems to just pull in projects, not build the install media. I should get more familiar with this branch before adding my touches to it.

@feudjais as a new user, I figure that using 'source' and using many individual vim files focused on one specific thing is very unix-y

Like I got a file dedicated only to nerdtree and its associated plugins. So if I wanna add nerdtree the way I want it, I just add that file.

And if I wanna add autocomplete and programming language support, that's it's own file as well.

Also: nerdtree is good

In this model, the bottleneck is (2) and anything that isn't the native tongue of the designer is actively getting in the way of the manifestation of that vision.

THIS IS NOT HOW PROGRAMMING WORKS.

In reality, programming is an eclectic back and forth conversation between developer and machine where the former explores the possibility space and the machine pushes back by unveiling its constraints.

No 'vision' survives this process unscathed, and this is a good thing.
