time to write a lua matrix library because tabletop simulator is a fuck and only gives Object.positionToLocal and Object.positionToWorld, and the only angles available are euler angles, but not exposed as an angle type, just a vector

@pan would likely end up embedding lua in it, since lua is actually not that bad, even if moonsharp (unity-compatible c# lua implementation) is abysmal dogshit (re: the Posts it has made about tts + lua)

might try piccolo some, but mlua (just bindings to lua 5.1/5.2/5.3/5.4/luajit/luau) with luajit is almost guaranteed to be faster (or luau… we shall see. wait fuck is that a commitment. fuuuuckk)

@0x57e11a @pan bevy’s come a really long way but it’s still rough around the edges (especially for ui). i’ll be using it the minute some of that cleans up

@pan imagine it would be funny if this project ended up being backwards compatible with tts (hell, maybe even pull steamworks-rs and do tts-compatible networking)

huge commitment it doesnt really want to do but it would be neat if it was a thing

@0x57e11a @pan would it be surprised if i said that its substantially more frustrating to use that unity ui (and unity’s ui toolkit, which i got just got done ranting about a couple weeks ago)

bevy’s ui example page is actually like,, perfect for illustrating the problem

@0x57e11a @pan upside is that bevy’s team is tracking how uh, Terrible their ui is. so it’ll improve! but yeah,,.

there used to be like, react-like wrapper macros around it (which i think is the direction bevy is talking about going?) so that might be worth checking out!
