why would you make lewd art of a character if you’re going to radically change

  • their body type
  • their entire personality
  • the setting/world that they live in

at that point it’s not really the same character is it

this post inspired by: if you look up any character on Rule 34 or e621 you will mostly find art of them with an enormously exaggerated body type and their entire personality has been changed to fit one of three generic cismale fantasies and often the entire context that they live in has been changed to fit a generic cismale fantasy too (like they’re a nurse now, or something)

@kasdeya things i find attractive

  • rows of razor teeth, horns, claws
  • surreal, distorted bodies with interminable limbs that has very few analogues to the human body
  • an overwhelming and terrifying presence

how this translates to monster porn

  • spooky (halloween) qualities
  • monster head on a sexualized human body (big tits, ass, thighs, whatever)
  • ahageo

cis men shouldn’t be allowed to make porn. from now on they have to goon to vent-erotica written by deeply traumatized transgirls

@kasdeya MOTION APPROVED.🧑‍⚖️

It's only fair, after all: for how many years have ONLY CIS men made porn?🤔 Now each demographic & gender combo will get their OWN period of exclusive influence, for the same amount of time! 🤗

Equality is beautiful.😌⚖️✨

@kasdeya

It’s the end game of. “She has a great personality!” (Also other things I’m not qualified to outline but I have suspicions.)

@kasdeya It's more or less wish fulfillment and the core of many of fictions - "What if this were a thing tho?"

So exploring outside what one imagines as possible, many would just create such unrealistic fictions where certain characters were drastically different from their mainline presentation because it brought whatever the intended audience of the fiction joy.

Just like Doom Guy finding kinship with Animal Crossing's Isabelle being met with the joy of many people - What if I make every Nintendo IP Character Communist, Gay, and Trans? I feel that would be delightful.

@kasdeya Let's be real. Bubsy + Gex being Trans Lesbians were made for people like me and seeing them so happy like this brings me immense joy.

@GoodNewsGreyShoes Women and the queers have been making porn pretty much since porn existed. Obviously cis men have dominated the industry (since, ya know, patriarchy) and target audience for a while, but they’re far from the only people in the medium.

More accurate descriptions of bigoted trends in lewd art

@flesh Ah, quite right!

My bad: I'd never intended to suggest that there were any periods during which ONLY cis men & women were making porn while trans & queer folk made none at all.

I'd meant to refer to the very same patriarchal dominance you described, but settled with overly-broad hyperbole 'cause I couldn't think of anything better at the time.😅

Any thoughts on a better way to describe that, in particular? 🤔

@ilobmirt hm I think I see what you’re saying! I love the Doomguy x Isabelle stuff because I already love Doomguy but now I get to appreciate him in a new way, and it adds a lot to Isabelle’s personality so that I can like her too - even though I didn’t really care about her before

and I feel like your Nintendo example works a similar way where I don’t really care about Nintendo characters but if they were all gay trans communists then I would have much more reason to lol

so I wonder if that’s what it is - adding appeal to a character that the audience recognizes, but wouldn’t otherwise be interested in?

@kasdeya that's part of it. Yeah. Artists can make fanfiction of characters that typically don't have any appeal to bring appeal to their audience.

Sometimes those characters do have a different kind of appeal. Maybe these characters tap into your sense of nostalgia. Maybe these characters are an icon, a symbol for something?

Of all the characters to make gay, trans, and communist - why did I make it the cast from Nintendo and not Sesame Street?

You ever notice the first thing folks did when Winnie the Pooh entered Public Domain, they turned the character into a horror slasher film? Winnie the Pooh the Original Character represented something to the public and their own childhoods. Innocent, friendly, kind. The directors of the Winnie the Pooh slasher put a mirror to the characters iconography as a means of shock value. And there's an appeal to the public with playing with the iconography of certain characters with what these characters represent.

Why is Thomas the Tank Engine turned into a figurehead for dank weed and Eldritch horror?

Why are the characters from TF2 and Left for Dead going on an endless list of absurd machinima and music videos?

-----
TLDR:

Not only is it about turning off that critical thinking about why these characters are in these fictional scenarios in order to add appeal to an otherwise unappealing character, it's also about playing with symbolism and subtext that is embedded in the characters themselves. The Fan Fiction brings a distorted lens through these characters and with it creates novel experiences that the public is able to connect with
