But I *wish* I had open, friendly, queer adults around when I was a kid. I had to figure out a ton of shit on my own. There were so many questions I had—and so many more I didn't even know I had until years (or decades) later.

YouTube has been much more aggressive about blocking my access to their videos - to the point that they’ve made it pretty inconvenient to use FreeTube (I have to refresh pages 2-3 times for the video to load or it gets blocked, and some videos just won’t play at all and I have to use MPC-HC instead) and of course they’ve still completely blocked my access to YouTube videos in the browser

so I’ve been backing up all of my favorite YouTube videos to my hard drive using yt-dlp. at this level of enshittification who knows if I’ll still have a workaround for watching YouTube videos in a year or so, or even if YouTube as a website will still exist

aaa I think I need to pick just one tech project because right now I want to

• try updating #HideousDestructor to the most recent version and updating my mods with it, and also seeing what new mods have been added in the 2-3 years since I last looked at that ecosystem
• tinker with my Arch VM
• keep working on my Bitburner code
• play one of several Zachtronics games
• try learning F# because I’ve always wanted to learn a functional language and it looks so approachable and it even lets you write imperative code too so it just seems like a perfect starting point
• try learning C#, and I even installed Space Engineers so that I have something fun for my code to do (you can use it to automate a ton of stuff in that game)

yayy I was able to get AMD-V working with VirtualBox today! I had to disable some WSL-related Windows services apparently, because otherwise Windows will claim AMD-V for itself, even when I’m not using it, and VirtualBox won’t be able to use it at all

now it’s so much nicer to use KDE in my Arch VM

… to be honest, I’m not actually sure what to do with this VM now that it I have it running properly. like, there’s not really anything that Linux does that my Windows install can’t do, as far as I know. the only reason I want to learn Linux is so that I won’t be totally reliant on Windows once the rugpull happens. maybe I’ll see if I can get a comfortable workflow set up, as if I’m going to use this as my main OS, just to see if I can

infix notation with order of operations and associativity:

the same infix notation with parenthesis replacing any possible ambiguity about order of operations:

((1 + 2 + 3) * (4 ** 5) * (6 / 7)) ** 8

the same equation, doing the parenthesis thing again, except I simplified it by replacing / 7 with * 7 ** -1 which I find helpful, at least, to turn division into a symmetrical operation:

((1 + 2 + 3) * (4 ** 5) * 6 * (7 ** -1)) ** 8

now here’s the same equation in FORTH-style reverse Polish notation:

1 2 + 3 + 4 5 ** * 6 * 7 / 8 **

and here it is in Polish notation:
