Do you routinely google words to be sure you’ve correctly understood its meaning and connotation or are you normal?
this was a fucking fascinating article from beginning to end. I love the levels of sex positivity and autism lol - also I just found out about Rationality Cardinality from this too! and I love that that’s a thing

I wish there was a way for me to add a separate set of text to my posts, that would only be read by screenreaders
that way I can do stuff like keysmashing and spongebob text, and in the screenreader text I can replace those things with *keysmash* and *mockingly, spongebob text*
this post is not about people who read alt text to optionally better understand images. this post is about people who need alt text and do not meaningfully (i.e. clearly) view the images they are attached to
people who need alt text: do you still find the same value in images as people who clearly, visually see them? for example, if you read an image of a beautiful sunset or a cute cat, does it fulfill you to read a long description of the details, or even just a short sentence, over nothing? what about jokes and memes, do you still find them as funny as those who see the images themselves, just based on the description? in other words, what images do you enjoy reading without visually seeing, and which do you not?
im especially interested in those who are totally or legally blind (as in the definition, not the gatekeeping), but if you read the fediverse from a (non-sixel/kitty/iterm) terminal or other non-visual medium i’d like to hear from you as well

those medical debt collection emails have such a weird fucking tone like
“together we can resolve your account balance. we’re here to help. we understand that paying us thousands of dollars for your hospital stay can be difficult, but together we can find a way to empty your savings account that works for you. we’re committed to personalizing our financial exploitation to your unique circumstances. let us help you fork over everything you owe”

CWs: video game violence, sexualized female character, maybe other things that I can’t remember (it’s a long video)
As a sighted person, a 23-character long all-lowercase hashtag made from several words is hard enough to parse. For a visually impaired person or a screen-reader, it's friggin impossible. Use CamelCaseInYourHashtags! for the cost of a few shift keys, you'll make it SO much easier for everyone.
this is fucking wild omg. it really shows what a boys’ club old D&D was
