if vegetables are so healthy then why do I get sick every time I eat a meal consisting entirely of Brussels sprouts? checkmate
@foolishowl woahh this looks incredible! every dimension in the screenshots has such a good vibe, and they all look really distinct from each other
@foolishowl omg I love that lol. is Quake one of the games that you play a lot of? you can probably tell but I love Doom and Doom 2, though I never got too far into Quake
it’s funny how every nearly every kind of herbal tea has a section on the back that’s like
like no it fucking doesn’t it’s a bag that makes hot water taste like garden weeds. I’m pretty sure if I went to a doctor for joint pain they would not prescribe 200cc’s of raspberry zinger
@foolishowl that definitely makes sense! to be honest sub-60 FPS tends to drive me crazy, but I’m very picky and uptight about things like that
thankfully I do tend to play mostly older games and simple indie games. but I’m also just very uncomfortable with the idea of having a lot of unnecessary cycles spent on rendering the same graphics or running the same game logic. that’s honestly just a me problem though
@foolishowl that’s fair! to be honest the last time I tried it was about 2-3 years ago but at the time I was getting 45 FPS on games that I would normally get 60+ FPS on, and a lot of games had weird graphical issues. but I bet things have gotten better since then at least
although the main thing is that when I try to play games with my friends/partners who use Linux, they tend to have trouble getting the game to run - even if it doesn’t have anti-cheat
@ryker_rf5 this is all really good info - especially the part about giving out my phone number - thank you!
I guess what it boils down to for me is:
honestly the #1 thing that keeps me on Windows is that gaming on Linux is still markedly worse and some games don’t work at all
for all the complaints about Windows 11 though I do actually like it more than Windows 10. for the most part IMO it’s just Windows 10 except they:
like it’s basically just more Windows and I think I overall like the changes so idk
except obviously the hardware requirements and the really aggressive screenshotting spyware they have for laptops that support Copilot or whatever it is
whenever I see a screenshot of Windows 11 I keep thinking that it’s some weird Linux DE, despite the fact that I’m using Windows 11 right now
it definitely looks like one of those ascetically minimal Linux DEs though, like Gnome
@Shivaekul this happened with American anarchism in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, and it’s why most Americans today hear “anarchist” and think “indiscriminate bomb-throwing terrorist”. this laid the groundwork for the Red Scare and all of the horrific consequences of that
for more info:
@Shivaekul also a movement tends to succeed once a critical mass of the population is actively protesting. but if people see a protest movement as violent, they’re much less likely to want to join it, (because the vast majority of people don’t want to involve themselves in violence) and it makes it easier for those in power to justify a rise in authoritarianism to “fight back” or “defend the country”
I think that Mary Shelly’s writing style is - being that I was not, in point of fact, born in such a time that allows me chronologically to understand or become privy to the mores and expectations upon which such a style of expression was formed to meet - somewhat, or rather very, dense and difficult to penetrate or possibly even to read such that I am unable to ascertain or determine quite what is attempting to have been, or being said with the words with which she is expressing and writing her intent thusly
… and that’s why I can never get past the prologue of Frankenstein
people keep saying that using “girls” to refer to adult femmes is infantilizing so from now on I will be saying “good woman” or perhaps “superb, wench”. broads are so cute, by the way. I love kissing cute dames
The Math Behind the Best-Selling Games: Perlin Noise
this is a really interesting and informative video, and I’m happy to finally (kinda) understand how Minecraft terrain gen works
