After two months of daily challenges I want to keep doing a regular themed drawing exercise, so today I'm starting "Sunday Best", where I'll draw some fits I had on characters I liked from games I've played at some point in the past.
To start the series, I chose the GOAT. The best to ever do it. Team Fortress 2's Soldier, voiced by the inimitable Rick May.
Today's Sunday Best features my Knight from Ragnarok Online! This was my very first online PC game, he was an agi/dex 2HQ knight w/ a set of elemental claymores. I played on iRO Loki, and had two drawings featured as loadscreen art!
My online handle stems from this guy. O'Reiley -> Reiley -> Rally
Coming in just under the wire on today's Sunday Best, it's my Deep Rock Galactic Engineer! The loadout I ran most of the time was Executioner LOK-1 & RJ-250 Grenade Launcher. I think the LOK-1 is one of the coolest weapon designs in an FPS, a lock-on mechanic that encouraged finesse & deep mastery.
@rally Is that alt text ai-generated? Did it mistake the goggles for the eyes?
@deshipu This is the most insulting thing anyone has ever asked me.
This week's Sunday Best is my Xenoverse OC, Parma (for parmesan cheese). She had a partner named Brie. Parma dressed up to match the teachers she studied under, but her final fit reflected the one she started with, styled to match this one pair of gloves. She used Giant Storm & Double Sunday a lot.
For my Sunday Best I drew my Paxultek from Remnant II. The goal of my build was to make the damage number from a single shot as large as possible. I used a Widowmaker single-shot elephant rifle we nicknamed The Governor. It was so strong it one-shot teammates through friendly fire damage reduction.
Today's Sunday Best features my funny gay dog lady from Webfishing. Her voice had a deeper, slower pitch so she sounded old & chill. One time I joined a full server, sat somewhere & started posting practical life advice, bits of big-sister wisdom, & the whole server found me & sat with me to listen.
It's Sunday, today's feature is my Darktide Zealot. Her name is Callista, she's chasing sainthood to be pardoned of her many crimes so she won't have to apologize for any of them. She has black dreams full of teeth and is constantly flirting with female Loner Psykers. She's unwell, but Female Loose Cannon Veterans think it's endearing and constantly hit on her for it. Their in-game voices say all of this.
Today's Sunday Best feature is QP from 100% Orange Juice! I played OJ a lot with my fighting game friends; for some reason I'd always have the hand pictured here. We used to post in text chat during games and I'd always say, Do NOT test me. I played so much QP the devs awarded me a special QP badge!
This week's Sunday Best is "Local Psychopath," Fem Boss #1 from Saint's Row 3. This was the first game I wanted to use the create-a-feature to make a character who blended in with the cast and looked like a genuine member of the Third Street Saints. I picked 3 cuz my favorite jacket wasn't in 4. :(
For today's Sunday Best I've got my Animal Crossing Villager to share. My favorite way to play these games is as part of a global cartel of goons who shared their wealth. When one person had big Turnips, everyone got paid. No profiteering; you need a rare item to make your room idea work? We got you.
It's technically Sunday, and this week's fit lands a bit early! I don't Tekken very often, but when I do I like to pick Steve and do all his slippery punches. In Tekken 7 he had a loose-fit, full-body track suit, so I made him into a deer man. When he's in Peekaboo Stance the antlers point forward!
This week's Sunday Best feature is Gaige from Borderlands 2. Pure Anarchy is one of the coolest FPS mechanics in the genre, an escalating accumulation of power that came with a diminishing level of control, lowering both TTK & effective range. Ride the wave & figure it out on the fly, it'll be fine.
Gaige's voice actress plays V in Cyberpunk 2077, I learned recently. An old friend.
Today's Sunday Best isn't a person, it's a plane from an old Vlambeer game called Luftrausers! The music changes to match your airplane. My favorite configuration is called "Shipwreck," a sword-hulled amphibious prop plane with shotgun cannons, it can divebomb through boats & burst up from the sea.
@rally The hull looks more like it'd be riveted rather than sawed :3
