seriously why is ondansetron prescription only. the major risk from use is heart rhythm abnormalities which is prevalent in a lot of current otcs. if i could have frequent access to zofran my qol would be so much better

@rowan ondansetron is a life-saver for me whenever I need it. I have vertigo issues, and unrelated, also have heart rhythm issues. I have a standing prescription for the ondansetron all the same.

I don't really feel anything, other than better, when I take it, so I'm not even sure how it could be abused or misused.

Sorry you can't seem to get a reliable source for it though, they won't let you have a long term rx?

@janusfox oh it’s fantastic you’re able to have access to it like that! 💜 yeah, my understanding is that heart rhythm abnormalities are even a rare side effect at that. it’s genuinely such a good drug. i have frequent nausea which can keep me from doing much for anywhere from a day to a week.

i’m going to try again to get a long term prescription today but in the past, they usually only prescribe it for a week or two at a time until “the symptoms pass”

@rowan I'm starting to feel extra special lucky in that regard, I will hold on to that rx for deer life with my cold foxy fingers.

Your nausea sounds miserable. And of course, the last thing you want to do when you have that is call the doctor, wait for an appointment, go into the office, wait 4 hours, etc. to end up with 10 pills.

If it helps, I get mine from the neurologist. I find specialists more willing to give proper prescriptions these days.
