playing a new AAA game be like:
if a game isn’t fun within the first hour it’s literally just a bad game. I used to give games the benefit of the doubt and play for 4+ hours waiting to get to the fun part but you know how many times the fun part was worth it? zero
so if you’re reading this, I’m giving you permission to uninstall anything you’re not enjoying after the first hour. honestly even the first 30 minutes is generally enough if you have a bad enough first impression
those upgrade systems that seem overly complicated and pointless? they probably are. the combat loop that seems overbearingly hectic? it probably is. the painful story that’s being shoved down your throat? it’s probably going to get worse
so uninstall that bloated AAA monstrosity and try some indie games instead. you’ll probably find something you really like - instead of wasting your time on something you hate on the off chance that it “gets good” later
a lot of folks will say that [insert any JRPG here] gets good after 10, 20, maybe even 60 hours. and I literally can not even fathom:
@bigtuffal omg I’ve never heard of Franken before but it looks cute! and I love that it’s so short
@kasdeya jfc AAA games especially. "omg you picked up a gun! Click the mouse to shoot! Demonstrate your acquisition of this knowledge by clicking these three objects. Great, now you probably don't know this but guns need to be reloaded after shooting them!" omg just let me play the stupid game who doesn't know how fps controls work
@kasdeya Meanwhile indie game's over here going "yeah so wasd to more, e to interact, you'll figure out the rest, off we go"
Oh my god _thank you_
