chat I have this revolutionary idea where if a company wants to hire a worker to do labor for money, they post this thing called a “job ad” and then people apply for that job. and then people go through a process called “interviewing” where a skilled worker at that job determines if the job applicant would be skilled at doing the job too
it’s kinda like the job postings we have now but the difference is that a job posting is fake but a job ad would be real. with a job ad the goal would be to hire the most skilled worker they can find. but with a job posting obviously the goal is to stroke the ego of a middle manager who gets to “interview” people for 1 hour at a time and act smug and condescending to them while asking weird vague invasive questions about the applicant’s life and personality, which have nothing to do with their ability to perform labor
another important difference is that if you apply to enough job ads you will eventually be hired, because the goal is to hire workers. whereas if you apply to job postings you will get automated rejection emails 3-7 months later
the idea is that people who are skilled at doing labor will be allowed to eat and access medical care and have certain basic human rights in the United States
who do I have to hold at gunpoint to get a job in this fucking country
@kasdeya ugh yeah. i hate the concept of a hidden jobs market. like, come on... put up listings or something?
It's just so against me to go apply to random places. It's just weird to enter most places to apply...
I like obvious processes. This is just one more pain point.
@kasdeya in the same vein, I'm struggling to get back into job search... I've been burnt bad enough, experiencing transphobia. I've also always struggled with long term employment. I've had a cycle of things going well for a month of two and then things going downhill : poor sleep, insomnia, general fatigue. This has gotten me in trouble before and somehow this never stops. It just keeps happening. I always get some kind of burnt out. It happens to a lesser degree when I have a 35h work week and it's particularly severe with 40h work week schedules. But it's there anyway. It happens when I work remotely as well. It just always happens and I don't get why.
I've been experiencing this in the last couple months as well and I've been unemployed.
@shijikori that sounds terrible omg. it sounds like what I’ve heard about autistic burnout - although I don’t know if you’re autistic. the way that we’re expected to work is so unfair sometimes and I wish work could be more individualized so that everyone could do it. or ideally I wish that we didn’t have to work in order to justify our existence, but yeah :/
I hope that you’re able to find some solution though - that sounds exhausting and upsetting
@kasdeya I am autistic. At least I'm pretty sure I am, rather convinced I am.
I am currently in the process of seeking diagnosis.
