@rowan parental rights has never been the correct word. Should have been parental obligations instead. They don’t have the right to protect their child, they are obligated to do so. They don’t have the right to give the best possible preparation to their child (or not), they are obligated to do so. And failure should mean severe punishment

@mstar agree. parents have no rights because rights are an entitlement to protect you from oppressive power structures. parents are the power structure

also children shouldnt have “parents” in the sense of two dedicated individuals looking after them – they should have a community so that they’re not fully dependent on just a few people
