Personal Politics

This Friday, please hold me to these words:
I will do my bare minimum in these unprecedented historic times to pick up a phone and phone bank for Zohran Mamdani, who appears to be the best hope against Andrew Cuomo from being New York City's Mayor.
Despite it not being a political race that's local to me, despite electoral politics not being -the- only thing to do to address this moment, it's the least I can do to help tilt the scales of the future in a more socialist direction.
We don't get socialism easily in an environment where everyone is living in extreme precarity because then, participation is extremely difficult. We get socialism when it's easy to be a part of the community as a whole. So maybe if I help New York City -not- elect a mass murdering sex pest and instead elect a person that's going to address the working class's base material needs, socialism will get easier there.
