reminder that Archipelago exists and is absolutely incredible:
it lets you create “multiplayer games” where you and your friend play two completely different singleplayer games and find items for each other in your games
for example I could be playing Doom ‘93 and instead of getting the super-shotgun and a soulsphere, I might find the PokeFlute and some rare candies for my friend playing Pokemon
and then they might be exploring a cave and find the BFG and the red key for E1M4
I can’t believe that something like this can exist. and there are a surprising number of supported games too
@kasdeya It's equal parts heartwarming and hilarious to see what has been touted for years as a core of glorious web3 gaming just quietly existing entirely without need for blockchain over in the land of people who build things rather than cargo cult financial instruments.
@kasdeya i havent played this myself but i saw it adds a whole new game mode to Outer Wilds where you physically cannot solve certain puzzles until you or your partner unlocks the “knowledge piece” that your character would need to have.
@kasdeya the Randomizer is also cool, I could play Stardew Valley and Minecraft both totally randomized, thats so funny and the challenges will be that both Games depend on finding things in each other to progress.
