imagine a novel that never gets to the point. it’s just 300 pages of overdescribing mundane things and {Waiting for Godot}-esque conversations. every chapter reads like the first part of a horror story where the horror hasn’t kicked in yet and the characters and premise are still being set up
when I’m reading a novel I get so antsy for the story to get to the good part because I want to find out if I’m actually going to like it and I don’t want to read 4,000 words to get there
(except in Lord of the Rings. the good part of that series happens right away with the Shire and Tom Bombadil, and it’s all downhill from there. same with the Hobbit)
@realpetrateal omg you did? I would love to hear more about it lol that’s such a crazy project to work on, let alone finish
