Really need to use this platform more often, it is my preferred one but I also get very little reach compared to Bluesky since there are less sex workers on here I feel like... or I can't find them as easily.

@kasdeya @trinityblair both, sadly :/ Someone from Bluesky said they don't want to join because they've heard Mastodon has a racism issue🤔 I didn't want to argue but in my experience, it's not any worse than anywhere else and at least the mods here pay attention and act fast...

that one wasn't even a screenshot, I went and saw that shit with my own eyes and that was that 
at least here, I can literally just message my admin if something needs questioning or further explanation

A major difference is that there's zero expectation of being well shielded from racism (and other isms) on Bluesky but Mastodon (and the Fediverse, generally) continue to tout that it's an extremely safe space for ALL marginalized people when it's no different than anywhere else.
The nature of the racism is often different here (casual, passive/aggressive) but its endemic and the general denial makes it worse.

It's a ridiculous claim that this place is completely safe, there is only potential in the way of tools to protect yourself so I can definitely appreciate the "devil you know" approach if you've already built a community/presence on Bsky and wouldn't want to join Fedi

Also, the learning curve here is extremely high compared to commercial platforms for the overwhelming majority of people who are not well-skilled, technically, no matter what all the techies here believe.
A literal lifetime, for many people, and online lifetime for exponentially more, under one tech paradigm makes learning the radically different way the fediverse functions off putting for most people.
