@pharmafemboy huge same tbh. like I hate Windows philosophically but unfortunately for now it’s the only OS that works for me. and thankfully I’m not supporting the shitty company financially - I’m just using their software

@kasdeya spyware that only runs on computers made in the last 3 seconds

@kasdeya Eh, nothing wrong with that; everyone has different luck with different computers and OSes.

For example, people sing praises of Linux distros that have given me nothing but trouble, while some other distros, as well as games and programs people complain about not working well had run just fine for me blob_grinning_sweat

One of the reasons that I switched to Linux is that it has a rich ecosystem of graphical environments that expand on what Windows 95 through 7 did well: instead of wasting the first half of the 2010s pushing a touchscreen UI and crappy fullscreen apps onto every PC on the planet, and stagnating into mediocrity the moment it reverted this decision.

Competition is the universe's way of preventing rot, and Microsoft's monopolistic business practices are thereby an affront to God.

Can be deactivated (for whatever that's worth) with settings that are scattered throughout the registry and Group Policy, or collected in utilities like ShutUp10.
Even then Microsoft may undo your changes during a system update.

Arbitrary system requirements (TPM2, SecureBoot, Skylake CPU, cloud account) can be bypassed by creating a customized ISO using Rufus or whatever: even if you'll still have to worry about old GPU/chipset/etc drivers crashing the new kernel.

Many put up with these feeble workarounds because the Linux community is content on treating Wine as an embarrasing crutch invoked through launchers and configured through Winetricks scripts: rather than an operating environment you may interact with directly.
Would be sick if Wine shipped with a disassembler.

@moses_izumi @kasdeya all this copium you mention to "fix" things is counter to the "it just works" premise kasdeya put forth
