just tried American Truck Simulator and all I can say is: apparently it is really fucking hard to drive a truck. I’ve genuinely had an easier time docking to a space station in Kerbal Space Program, than doing a three-point turn in the tutorial for this game

it seems like I’m on a three-game streak of “cozy games” turning out to be unforgiving, difficult, and stressful lol

it seems like the pattern is “any game that consists of operating a complicated machine to pick up and drop off Things is going to stress me out”

@kasdeya that kind of game feels like it's a bit of a risk - the controls matching with reality can get rather fiddly and overwhelming really quickly

@tempest @kasdeya that's why you play american truck simulator with HOTAS (this one has done that)

@wetsocks @tempest hmm that definitely might be easier! I don’t really own anything like that but yeah I was trying to control these games with WASD

@kasdeya @wetsocks we liked those games a bit more with a game controller, as then steering is a one digit control rather than four

@kasdeya have you tried games like Nodebuster or Digseum? basically "the exponential curve as a game". Digseum in particular is only like 2-3 hours if you can buy into the core gameplay loop

@liese ooh - I haven’t! I love incremental games (and they’re often a great example of the “figure out how to use this big complicated machine” gameplay that I love) but I’ve never heard of either of these - I might give them a try
