I fucking love #StarWars ship designs. I don’t like the movies (too science fantasy) or the shows but I love reading about Legends lore on Wookieepedia and I love the ships. Star Trek and Stargate have some cool ships (and some really weird ones) but Star Wars ships are just so consistently good-looking. I don’t know what it is. even a lot of the prequel ships are just gorgeous

@kasdeya I just watched andor season 1 and it is beyond awesome! Not much science or fiction or fantasy though, beyond the basic fact that they are in space. More like some very well executed classic story structures (a man hunt, a heist, and a prison break). Also cool looking ships, I guess. I'm generally not moved by how pretty things look? If it does not have a good emotional arc, I'm not invested in it

@ruakueqche I’m glad you’re enjoying it so much! I’ve heard a lot of good things about Andor tbh and I love that there’s such a mainstream show that’s about (from what I’ve heard) fighting fascism

I’m probably too sensitive for a show like Andor though lol but I can definitely appreciate it from a distance

@kasdeya Yeah, it is precisely about fighting fascism. And there are several genuinely enraging moments, especially so because it is exactly the kind of violence and injustice that happens in real life. I'm mostly disconnected from the horrors of modern life, so I have mental space for angst in my entertainment.

The main reason I watched it, tho, is because hakan geijer wrote a zine about real life security culture practices based on the show, and I really want to learn more about that, and he's a knowledgeable anarchist writer. So yeah, it was very enjoyable required reading xD. Next up on that list is the movie "how to blow up a pipeline".

@ruakueqche ooh omg I love that you’re able to spend the energy to learn so much about anarchist theory like that. but I guess that makes sense since you’re on kolektiva.social :P

to be honest I’ve never heard of Hakan Geijer or security culture and now I’m kinda curious. if it’s not too much trouble do you mind sending me that article? I honestly haven’t done too much reading about anarchism at all - I have a lot of anarchist friends and partners and it sounds like a really promising way to organize people with a greatly reduced chance of corruption, greed, etc. but yeah I don’t know a whole lot about it beyond the basics

also that sounds like a hell of a movie lol, but I’ve never heard of it. the title reminds me of a subplot in The Santa Clarita Diet where the daughter character (I forget her name) blows up a fracking operation with an IED. I love that show - especially the way that it has a really goofy sitcom-y sense of humor about incredibly dark topics
