hey so question for y’all. where is the line between dubcon and noncon when it comes to mind control, hypnosis, or aphrodisiacs? like for example:

• someone is clearly not consenting
• they’re mind controlled or exposed to aphrodisiacs so that they consent

is that noncon or dubcon? I’m not sure which add to my CW. here’s another example:

• it’s unclear whether someone would have consented, but the implication seems to be that they wouldn’t have
• they’re mind controlled or exposed to aphrodisiacs so that they consent

same question

and here’s one more situation that I’m curious about:

• someone accidentally exposes themselves to an aphrodisiac
• they desperately have sex with the closest person. it’s implied that they wouldn’t have had sex with them otherwise

there is no dubious consent, if it's dubious then that means it's non-consent

@kasdeya i would consider all of these to be noncon,, aphrodisiac is a mind-altering substance so it bears some similarity to e.g. alcohol so accidental or not, someone cant meaningfully consent while under it,, mind-control and hypnosis can be interpreted similarly, except instead of a physical substance its magic

from what i understand, dubcon is when the abscence of expressing consent is seen as consent, while here its more about making someone consent, just under false pretenses

@kasdeya Dubcon I'd consider to be more like they didn't/couldn't give clear consent, but it seemed like they wanted it in advance anyway. I'd consider all of those scenarios to be noncon

@kasdeya for me drugs/mind control is non-con, the same as "non-con but got pressured somehow to consent"

@kasdeya In real life? S1 does not exclude normal consent rules, S2 is the same as if someone is drunk, which is hard no.

In a fantasy/RP scenario, the consent is in the OOC interaction or in the fact the reader can stop or skip at any time (a good writer should probably be telegraphing this event.)
