every time I buy a DNS address it’s like $1 or less and then 6 months later I get an email telling me that next year it’s going to be like $30 wtf
is Namecheap scamming me, or am I just really unlucky?

@kasdeya that's how they get you, they lend the address at a discounted price and when you need to renew it goes full price
@kasdeya i'm gonna have to ask around a bit but i recall someone in a discord server moved from namecheap to another service because of something like this. the other serivce wasn't like... 1$ cheap but still very affordable.
@shijikori thankfully I don’t have to worry about this for a long time, and I might not even want to renew the DNS address (it’s for my resume website for tech work, but obviously the tech industry is Not Doing Well right now lol). but in another 6 months then I’ll decide what to do hehe. thanks for being willing to help though!
@kasdeya I feel that. I am working through autistic burnout, essentially. Having a girlfriend over for the holidays has helped me tremendously. Though I am not sure if I am ready to tackle work again.
And that I am an IT tech (trained with a network management focus turned developer lol) does not help with the current drought of jobs. They don't really hire and if they do they are looking to snag some of the experienced lay offs from other companies.
@shijikori that absolutely sucks omg. I hope that you’ll be able to make it through this drought, and deal with your burnout at the same time. I’ve heard that any kind of IT job can be soul-crushing. employment is so hard for folks like us and it’s completely unfair and I hate it. like there’s no reason why jobs have to be this way - it’s entirely cultural and pointless
