@thermia people using the chatboxes for arbitrary info like that is really annoying in general, but I never even thought about the way it interferes with accessibility.
I used to be mute in VRChat (before chatboxes even existed) but I've become verbal since so I never had to deal with it in that way.

unfortunately people get really hostile if you even mention anything about it in my experience.

I'm glad they let u mute peoples chat and voice separately now at least so I don't get people sending their friends after me asking me "why did u mute my friend" constantly, but there's definitely still room for improvement.
