ugh I hate waterlogging as a mechanic. I’m trying to make a kelp farm in modern Minecraft and I thought it would be cool if the water was fenced in with signs stacked on top of each other, so I could walk right into the water from anywhere

but apparently as the kelp grows it’s waterlogging the signs for some reason?? so I have to encase the entire sign-kelp-water box with cobblestone and I’ll figure out how to get into it later

the weirdest part is that it’s only waterlogging certain signs and not others. the wiki is just like “yeah stuff gets waterlogged sometimes idk”. I don’t think anyone understands how waterlogging works lol

@kasdeya

it's a really dumb and poorly implemented mechanic

this advice may be worth nothing since i stopped minecraft at like 1.14

@kasdeya couldn't you just extend the water cube by one block on each side so the kelp growing doesn't trigger a block update to the water block next to the sign?
