random thing that’s bothered me for like 15 years:

if you were holding a pokéball you wouldn’t hold it with the button facing away from you. you need to be able to press that button, so you’d hold it with the button over your thumb or index finger

@kasdeya it hinges open on the reverse though, which is an issue with needing the button

@kasdeya My vague interpretation back in the day was that the button is pressed by the ball hitting the ground, which triggers the release/capture. Which doesn't make much sense either as a physical mechanism tbh

@theking the way I think it works is that you press the button, and then the ball opens on a time delay

so you press the button, then throw the ball before it can open. but I’m not 100% sure if that’s how it works

@kasdeya @theking I think the balls had two sizes in the anime, and the button was shown to make them grow in size before the tossing.

Yea, that doesn't make any more sense physically, but at least then one was able to reach the button.
