Pygmalion was definitely a shallow fuckboy. there is no other explanation

how do you fall in love with a statue. it is physically incapable of having a personality. it is literally only booba. ass n tity is the whole of its existence

madly in love with his own goonslop. shameful.

@kasdeya one of dawn's favorite works of interactive fiction — it's a (relatively) simple text game where the entire work is a conversation with Pygmalion's Galatea (or it is framed as this being a modern automata styled after her) but the story that comes out of it has stuck with us for a long time

@kasdeya it feels to us like a story that is largely about intent, and navigating the expectations of others . . . but also about self-determination, and identity, and a bit about magic

@tempest oohh interesting! it sounds really cool to be honest

I’ve never heard of a text game where you can have conversations with characters. how do you know which things you can say/ask?

@kasdeya it's relatively basic, the two commands are "ask galatea about [topic]" and "tell galatea about [topic]", and that's kind or the storytelling trick that we like, is that you need to infer what you can talk about from her dialogue

@tempest oohh interesting. I think I like that - it reminds me of Fallout’s dialog system, as well as (a little bit) Morrowind’s. it also reminds me of narrative puzzle games like Her Story, where you have to figure out which search terms to use based on the story that you know so far
