Minecraft videos have changed

this is an interesting video about how YouTube’s algorithm no longer rewards episodic content like Let’s Plays, and how Let’s Plays are a bit of a dying art now and have to be found through word of mouth

so with that in mind, have y’all watched any Let’s Plays that you liked and want to recommend? or maybe some other lesser-known episodic video series

@StryderNotavi I definitely had YouTube series in mind when I wrote that but to be honest I feel like I haven’t seen much episodic content at all lately that isn’t a TV show or something, so I feel like a TTRPG podcast does count! especially for a lesser-known setting like Numenera (I hadn’t even heard of this setting before)

unfortunately I can’t watch it because storytelling but I hope that someone else sees your post and is interested enough to check it out

@kasdeya Fair enough, and the DM of that campaign is quite good at exactly the those storytelling aspects that you hate, so if that's not good for your mental health then I'd give it a miss.

@kasdeya Gopher is great, as long as one is into Bethesda game roleplay and adjacent (S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Kingdom Come Deliverance, Cyberpunk 2077, that kind of thing).

@fargate oohh I do love (some) Bethesda games, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sounds like a series that I could enjoy from a distance, though I bounced off of it

@kasdeya Ah, and though I didn't realise it a few minutes ago, there's also Aliensrock for puzzle games. The editing style and mood are very different from Gopher's, but they are certainly Let's Plays as well.

@fargate omg I’ve been really enjoying watching Aliensrock playing Poly Bridge 3 so far! it’s both interesting and really satisfying to watch him refine his designs to shave off a bit more cost every time

also I love the idea of that playlist - I wish other youtubers had something similar

@fargate I’ve been watching Gopher’s Fallout: London series and really enjoying it. I had no idea Fallout: London was so good! like it genuinely seems so much drastically better than Fallout 4 so far - it’s crazy that it was fan-made. also Gopher is so perfect for this game because of how British he is lol
