long post in which I hypothesize that Alan Turing didn't kill himself (his death was accidental)

Okay so my understanding of Alan Turing's death was basically that the forced feminization imposed on him as "chemical castration" caused him such intense dysphoria that he ultimately committed suicide. The official inquest into his death found that he died to suicide via cyanide poisoning, delivered via a poisoned apple.

However a perusal of his Wikipedia page has utterly convinced me that his death was actually an accident.

Consider the following facts:

  • They never actually established that the apple was poisoned.
  • His letters and loved ones suggest he was doing pretty well.
  • Nobody close to him believed it was likely to be a suicide.
  • He left behind a list of chores he intended to get to after the upcoming holiday weekend.
  • At the time of his death, he had been running an electroplating experiment with potassium cyanide as a reaction agent to plate some spoons with gold.
  • He often ate an apple before bed.

In light of this evidence, it seems likely to me that his death was the result of accidentally inhaling cyanide fumes during his experiment (and possibly during the night from his bedroom) and the half-eaten apple was a coincidence. Official investigators just assumed it was a suicide because, basically, "he was homosexual, mentally ill freaks like that kill themselves all the time."
