why is Overwatch 2 the only hero shooter that’s still alive in 2025? of the four that I’ve tried it’s my least favorite

I know Marvel Rivals still has a ridiculously high player count (even higher than Overwatch 2) but NetEase backstabbed their main dev team by laying all of them off so I think it’s just a matter of time until it dies

I miss Paladins so much. I had plenty of frustrating games but the characters were so complex and well-designed, the time-to-kill was exactly perfect most of the time, and there were very few characters that just felt completely useless. I also just like how it conceptualized tanks as being slow but hard to kill (and they almost always had some abilities that debuffed and/or disabled enemies), damages as being medium-speed and outputting a lot of damage, and flanks as being extremely fast and sneaky but useless in a fair fight

also the visual style was stylized in a way that was almost perfect for clarity. visually it was the League of Legends to Overwatch’s DoTA2, if that comparison makes sense to anyone other than me

@kasdeya I think i see where you’re going with that. I’m just less well versed in LoL and DOTA.

@tempest oh that’s a good point! I tend to mentally categorize it as a battle royale instead but I guess it is both. it might be worth a try tbh - although I feel like I’d be terrible at it lol
