Windows 11 doesn’t actually seem that bad so far? they fixed a lot of UI annoyances that I’ve had since Windows 7, the UI feels more consistent overall, and the UI noises are soft and nice now instead of harsh and grating. also the start menu search is way, way more responsive and so much better in general

so far I only have a few problems with it:

  • the new start menu sucks (I’ll eventually install a replacement for it)
  • the animation for switching between desktops is way too slow and you can’t turn it off without turning off all animations across the whole system
  • you can’t have a vertical taskbar :(

omg the only free option for restoring the Windows 10 start menu is called ExplorerPatcher and it has a lot of scary warnings about how it can leave your system in an unusable state

so uhh… I guess I’m stuck with the shitty new Windows 11 start menu for now

@nol hmm I did consider that! I might end up using it depending on how much I end up hating this new start menu lol

@kasdeya I am no longer on windows, but I got used to the W11 start menu rather quickly. You can actually somewhat change how much of it is pinned stuff vs. recommendations, I changed it to mostly pinned.
